Why we run

This is why we run

RBC Race for the Kids, Vancouver’s largest family fun run, has helped improve the lives of countless kids since it started in 1986. By coming together each year to take small steps in support of childhood cancer and mental health, supporters have helped make giant strides in care possible.

We’re incredibly proud of the distance we’ve come, but we’re not done. Too many children aren’t getting the specialized care they need for mental health conditions. Every year, new kids and families will learn they have cancer—and even after enduring the unimaginable, many still face a life of unknowns.

Due to challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s become more difficult to deliver care to kids and families who need it most. The need to come together to ensure health care providers at BC Children’s can deliver the best possible care has never been greater.

When it comes to the race to improve the health of kids, there is no finish line. By joining us this May, you can make a difference. Your support will help health care providers respond to these rapidly evolving needs, while they continue to help more kids get back being kids.
